Single Malt Lover!

據說這是橡木桶代理雲頂以來第一次辦的餐酒會, 地點選在君悅飯店的凱寓,這裡也是我覺得台北最適合辦品飲會的地方, 這次吃的是西餐, 前菜鮭魚起司千層塔與主菜羊排做的都很棒,佐咖啡的當紅Macaoon 被我全部打包給小朋友了! 

我在年初東京的WhiskyLive就碰過Peter, 當時他與調酒大師Frank MacHardy 合開Master Class, 不過大師只負責笑, 當時喝了不少好酒, 例如Society Bottle 的Hazeburn, 與 最新兩年的Glengyle等. 

有參加的人應該都可以體會到Jim那感動人的魅力吧!

個人覺得Jim的魅力在於感動人心, 另一位也很厲害的Richard Paterson則是強在表演華麗, singmalt.tv的訂戶可以看到一段在Richard在他實驗室的專訪,跟他主持的Master Class的一樣喔!

補紀錄, Mar. 4th, 2006, 春風品酒會

Girvan 14yo 1990/2005 (59.4%, Blackadder, Hogshead#169128, 272b.)
86分, 可以感覺的出穀物酒的特色, 但是不知道是否是後見之明, 香氣還OK, 鹹, 但是不耐喝!

Cragganmore 15yo 1989/2004 (57.9%, Blackadder, Hogshead#1970, 212b.)
82分, 花香及堅果味明顯, 不是我特別喜歡的味道!

Compass box Hedonism (43%, OB, vatted grain whisky)
Color: Golden orange color.
Nose: tropical fruit, wood, malty sweet, vanilla!
Palate: spicy, dry, light body, finish medium to long. very dry.

Balblair 40yo (42.8%, The Single Malts of Scotland, Cask#1346, 152b. Hogshead, Anniversary slection)
Color: Brown, clear, watering.
Nose: Quite nice, lot's citrus, tropical fruit, a little bit earth, very light peat, quite nice flower, creaming.
Taste: Dry, bitter, watering, not very good finish.

Ardbeg 32yo 1972/2004 (45.3%, OB, Cask#861, 216b. Bourbon Hogshead, for German market)

Color: Brown, slow legs and large.

Nose:  Peaty, but not very strong.  Beautiful fruity nose.  nice and deep.  Malty, as well.. Some feel like walking in the barley field.  Nosing it self is perfect! I nose it for almost 3 minutes before tasting. Very enjoyable.

Burberrys 15yo 40% Blend bottled before 1999
Color: Gold.
Nose: Grassy, fruiy. flower, not typical Taiwanese favored style.
Taste: Caramel, light body. dry. medium finish.
Conclusion: 71 points, not bad, not typical. 公賣局時代進的酒, 頗普通, 感覺的出不是為了台灣人調的酒.

Glen Peel 15yo (40%, OB, 虛擬酒廠)

Color: 金黃色.

Nose: 很棒的柑橘香, 隱含一絲堅果, 肉桂?

 Blind Tasting:

Sample 1: 棕色, 很厚實, 熱帶果香, 柑橘, 一點點泥煤, 些微堅果, 沒有焦糖, 溫暖而年輕.  80分.  答案: Glengoyne 10yo (40%, OB)

Sample 2: 淺棕色, 柑橘, 波本桶陳年, 清新, 草香, 麥芽香氣明顯, 香草.  輕酒體, 短尾韻, 77分, 答案: Glenlivet 12yo (40%, OB, new 2005)

It was hold during the lunch time in Grand Hyatt Taipei.

It's very nice to have Bill here.  He spend almost one week to meet the consumer all over Taiwan.  Doing three tasting a day.  Unbelievable!  He is very nice to chat with everybody.  He explained very well about the key point but carefully not to touch too much about the production.  I actually like his style of speech.

這次難得有機會能夠跟原廠的品牌大使Ian Millar 一塊垂直品飲Glenfiddich 這間全世界銷售最佳的Single Malt.  Ian Millar 1971年開始工作的酒廠是Blair Athol Distillery 他從各個階段的製造學起, 最後成為酒廠經理!  接下來一直到1998年間, 他一直在Diegeo 旗下的各間酒廠如: Bladnoch, Mortlach, Glen Elgin, Linkwood, Blair Athol and Dalwhinnie 間輪調, 然後才被William Grant & Sons 集團(擁有Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Kininvie 三間單一麥芽酒廠) 聘請擔任集團總理製程職務.  目前除了仍然負責部份製造管理外, 也兼任Glenfiddich 的品牌大使職務

A little bit darker in color.  Nosing better.  More toffee, beautiful heather.  Smoky.  Very oil.  Weak in body.  Mild, finished long.  Adding water weak.  Score: 88
