Ardbeg 27yo 1973/200 (50%, OMC, 228b.)
Color: Light yellow, slow and clear legs.
Nose: Very peaty, light and fresh fruit, then tropical fruit appear, peaty again. Very standard bourbon cask Ardbeg, freshing, deep fruit, very nice nose.
Palate: Medium light body. Long finish, salty. Peat bitter. Comparison weak.
Conclusion: 89 points. Very nice nose, comparing weak palate. Seems younger than it’s age. Adding water get even better nose. Much higher than my last tasting. (Thanks Bird)
Ardbeg 27yo 1973/2000 (50%之OMC, 240b.)
Color: Golden, watering.
Nose: Not very clear nose at first. Kind of earthy. Kind of refill sherry cask? Some peat(at back), cereal/grain, need some time to breath?
Palate: Thin, kind of weak, Maybe because it’s opened too long.
Conclusion: 82 points. I didn’t realize I haven’t taste this one. I got the sample from Mitch (thanks!) one year ago. , pity it’s kind of weak.
Ardbeg 26yo 1974/2000 (50%, Kingsbury, 278b.)
Color: Golden.
Nose: Peaty and fruity, rich, complex. Very enjoyable, nothing bad in it. Cereal grain.
Palate: Medium, rich, long finish. Enjoyable.
Conclusion: 91 points. This is a very nice malt, very enjoyable and I hope I would have the whole bottle. Become a little bit easy after a while.
Ardbeg 1974/2005 (51.7%, OB, for France, 106b. Bourbon cask#2743)
Color: Golden brow.
Nose: Rich and thick, tropical fruit, sea, wood.
Palate: Medium body, short finish, a little bit gone.
Conclusion: 91 points. Reminds me 1974 Provenance, Adding water get much better nose and palate.
Arebeg 1975/1993 (56%, Cadenhead Authentic Collection)
Color: Light yellow.
Nose: some interesting nice old malt nose. Orange, earty, 黴味.
Palate: Again, vry interesting peaty sweet. Very nice old effect.
Conclusion: 93 points. Very unusual one. Enjyable, Old malt and getting better. I just love 黴味!(Thanks Bert)
Ardbeg 1965 (54.4%, Cadenhead, Dumpy bottle white label)
Color: Light yellow.
Nose: what a nice old malt, very fruity, light peat, again old malt and old barley feel.
Palate: Medium body, long finish, Sweet.
Conclusion: 94 points. Very enjoyable. Unbelievable good. Get even better after a while, don’t add any water in. (Thanks Bert)
